BB-8, Coding & Scratch Jr

Happy New Year! To welcome my kiddos back to the library, I brought MY Christmas present to myself: Star Wars: The Force Awakens BB-8 Robot! Needless to say, it was a hit!

I did it as a wonderful segway into coding. I began by making the connection to this blog, as I've had to learn a plethora of codes to get this "digital baby" of mine looking cute! :) Lol!

Along with my Digital Learning Specialist and for the remainder of this month, I will be teaching my kids coding. We will use the app Scratch Jr. Check out their video here:

Be sure to check back for additions to the post, but more importantly, check out BLACK GIRLS CODE! and please say a prayer for me because I would love to have a local chapter here in Houston open up...hire me! :)

P.S. I'm a die-hard #StarWars fan! I stayed up over 24 hrs and went to work both day! #StarWarsTheForceAwakens grade B-: J.J. Abrahams-you did a fantastic job on the actions sequences, but you failed me on the storyline between Han-Leia-Ben/Kylo. If Rey can get a 5 second flashback as a clue to her existence, then the audience needed at least 30 seconds to explain why the son of a two good leaders (Han and Leia) became demon child! That one-liner about him having "too much of his grandfather in him" wasn't enough!

Here's the Top 10 Moments from The Force Awakens:

And because I will be buried with something STAR WARS related, here's something humorous!
