TCEA 17 as a Presenter

Image
I'm very humbled to present to other librarians and tech enthusiast about how I use technology to advocate! Whether its blogging, tweeting or participating on various Facebook groups, (i.e. #FutureReadyLibrarians ), Social Media is now a part of fibers. THANK YOU #TCEA17 for accepting my proposal and giving me to wondrous next working opportunity! Here are some of the highlights thus far! And if you're here at TCEA, please stop by my session: Level 4, Room 15 at 2:30! Here's an online survey that details the effects of social media for librarians! Thank you Zakir Hossain Yes, that's me (above) standing next to a man holding a rattlesnake! Mind you rattlesnakes at the Capitol is just a friendly Texas greeting! Lol! Love the positive energy & ideas of @soulpancake CEO, Shabnam Mogharabi! World Read Aloud Day! #WRAD16

Image
Happy World Read Aloud Day! Please join the nation in celebrating #WRAD16 ! I've chosen one of my favorite books of all time... The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss! Oh how marvelously appropriate and exact was Ted Geisel in simplifying the prejudicial injustices of the world! Without delving too deep, we're still favoring those bellies with stars against those who have none upon thars! :)

Using #TwitterAnalytics!

Happy Digital Learning Day! If you didn't know, you need to get on board: #DLDay ! As you may know I'm a self-branded #SocialMediaLibrarian! I participate in a variety of #PLN chats and am a fierce advocate for the "growth mindset" for professionals! Every week, like clock work, I set reminders in my smart-phone to drop everything and "better me" by learning from others! It's sounds cheesy, but it's the gospel truth! :) I've often wondered the effects of my tweets and Twitter Analytics has answered the call! Here's a snap-shot of my Twitter Analytics (my specific results) : Thanks to Stony Evans for sharing "Why You Should Add Twitter Analytics to Your Library Statistical Reports!" Stony, you just "wrapped up with a bow" my rationale as to why participating in Twitter Chats (Go Team #txlchat !) should be applied to my professional development hours for my district/state requirements! :) Here's a little s...

Sway's my NEW platform!

Today's an exciting PD (Professional Development) day for me because I did get to PLAY WITH SWAY! Here's my sway presentation on being a #SocialMediaLibrarian! Take it easy on me...I'm still working on it! :)

VoiceThread: An Interactive Tool for the 21st Century Educator

So my co-worker/friend, Michael Davenport , have this on-going collaborative nature between us! We're constantly bouncing ideas off of each other. Our latest initiative was the idea to record our PDAS observations. This way well intentioned principals can catch all the AWESOMENESS that educators do, that they might not have noticed while in the classroom observing and/or conducting a walk-through. Here's my tweet to bring the Texas Education Agency's attention to our grand idea: @teainfo @txeduchat Why not video PDAS observ. so Ts/Admin can view at their leisure all domain levels? Add peer evaluation too! #txlchat — awakenlibrarian (@awakenlibrarian) May 28, 2015 I mentioned this to @teainfo @txeduchat yesterday! Well intentioned leaders miss measurable moments! May I help out? https://t.co/r9Um6hwRcw — awakenlibrarian (@awakenlibrarian) May 29, 2015 Well, being the overachiever, nutty blossom that I am, I wanted to research what resources were already out there...
